"Bulbous Nasal Tip Rhinoplasty – Which implant is better?"

[The Korea Industry Daily]

Rhinoplasty is one of the most widely performed cosmetic surgery, coming in second to blepharoplasty which is the most popular surgery in South Korea.
Located at the center of our faces, how our noses look makes a big difference in our first impressions. Consequently, there has been an increase in demand for rhinoplasty.

A few years back, L-shaped silicone implants which covers the whole tip and bridge area were used on patients who had rhinoplasty.
Using this implant however, can result in patients having a very “artificial” and “fake” looking nose.
It also causes discomfort for some people who are not compatible with this type of implant.

The newest nasal implant material “mesh” in an upgraded version of previously existent L-silicone implants.
Mesh has been made to improve its predecessors pre-existing shortcomings and has also been approved by the FDA.
Furthermore, mesh can be inserted through a small incision which makes it easier to use in closed and non-incision rhinoplasty.

Due to its shape, the tip of the nose is maintained soft when rhinoplasty is performed with a mesh implant.
Therefore, more natural-looking results are obtainable with mesh implants.

Regardless of the quality of the implant used during rhinoplasty, the priority should always lie within “who” performs the surgery.
Some inexperienced surgeons perform the surgery without having the overall harmonization of facial features in mind.
Having a detailed consultation with an experienced surgeon is not optional, but essential in order to avoid side effects and revision surgeries.
